From Mariah Stewart, New York Times bestselling author of The Chesapeake Diaries series, comes the next book in her popular Hudson Sisters series, which follows a trio of reluctant sisters who set out to fulfill their father’s dying wish and discover themselves in the process in this “sweet reminder of the importance of family” (First for Women).

California girl Allie Hudson Monroe can’t wait for the day when the renovations on the Sugarhouse Theater are complete so she can finally collect the inheritance from her father and leave Pennsylvania. After all, her life and her fourteen-year-old daughter are in Los Angeles.

But Allie’s divorce left her tottering on the edge of bankruptcy, so to keep up on payments for her house and her daughter’s private school tuition, Allie packed up and flew out east. But fate has a curve-ball or two to toss in Allie’s direction—she just doesn’t know it yet.

She hadn’t anticipated how her life would change after reuniting with her estranged sister, Des, or meeting her previously unknown half-sister, Cara. And she’d certainly never expected to find small-town living charming. But the biggest surprise was that her long-forgotten artistry would save the day when the theater’s renovation fund dried up.

With opening day upon the sisters, Allie’s free to go. But for the first time in her life, she feels like the woman she was always meant to be. Will she return to the West Coast and resume her previous life, or will the love of “this amazing, endearing family of women” (Robyn Carr, #1 New York Times bestselling author) be enough to draw her back to the place where the Hudson roots grow so deep?

hoping for book 4 i enjoyed reading this book and had a hard time putting it down as i got caught up in the lives of Barney, Allie, Des and Cara and their significant others as well as Nik and the teens. it was nice to read about the transformation of Allie from being a west coast gal to being an east coast gal ~ and finding happiness in a new relationship! could there be a book 4 in the works? i so hope so as we are left hanging about tess ~ yes we as the reader know who tess is but tess does not - and hopefully book 4 will be her story and how she will fit in with the hudson family! love this series as well as the author's chesapeake series!!!Family reading I loved this series. It represents a great way of life. In reality. We aren't all living in harmony with families but this series gives an idea of what could be This is fiction. It's well written and moves along nicely. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.I think I have read all Mariahs books and look forward to the next one5 stars Man, I just love this series! Allie, the heroine of this book, had such great character progression throughout the entire series. When I started the series (three years ago when book one was released), I really wondered how Ms. Stewart was going to have Allie deal with her alcoholism. I like the way she handled it. Most, if not all, of the book was told from Allie's point of view (not written in 1st person, but most of the scenes came from her perspective). She had a chapter here and there in the other books. The way her own thoughts and desires moved from pain, bitterness and a sole desire for alcohol to caring, understanding and the love for her daughter and sisters being more important than her love of booze, was very interesting and pleasing to read.Allie was able to overcome her alcoholism without AA meetings or a sponsor, but the only reason this was believable to me was because of the constant work she was doing on the theater and at the café. She was always busy, practically never having time to think about getting drunk. That and that fact that she had committed to herself before the books even started that she wouldn't drink when her teenage daughter was living with her. Which was nealry all of this book. This is a women's fiction novel so the romance took a backseat to Allie's relationship with her family, and I knew that would be the case, but I'd really hoped for a little bit more of Ben Halderman in here. We all knew from book 1, that these two were getting together, and I just hoped there was more shown on the page. I felt like the romances of the other two sisters were more prominent in their books, so I was sad that Allie's wasn't a bit more at the forefront. My only other complaint is that Barney, the sister's aunt whom they lived with while renovating the theater, got on my nerves every now and then. I get that she was a single woman in her 70s, so she was very used to doing things her own way, but I felt like she was too gruff and coarse during some of her interactions with her nieces. I would have preferred her being a little bit kinder every now and then.I don't want to give away any spoilers, but there is a big twist about two thirds through that I didn't see coming! I certainly hope we get a fourth book! And a fifth book about Allie's daughter, Nikki, when she's an adult! There are two to uses of the sh- word and one use of the b- word (maybe one more, but I can't remember). There's no sex scenes, though sometimes there are conversations about sex, but not any descriptions of the act.
