“What could possibly be better than a great lasagna recipe? A whole slew of them, plus some wonderful baked pastas too. I’ve never met a dish that made my family happier than lasagna, and now I have twenty-five ways of pleasing the people I love best.”—Ruth Reichl“Four of the greatest things to eat are tagliatelle Bolognese, spaghetti pomodoro, ricotta stuffed pasta, and pizza. Lasagna is all of that at once. This book shows the way and some wicked cool new stuff too. Lasagna! If you don’t like it, can we trust you?”—Brooks Headley, chef and owner of Superiority Burger“Garfield’s love of lasagna is well-documented. In his opinion, it’s nature’s perfect food. I’m often asked, ‘Why lasagna?’ Truth is, lasagna is MY favorite food. So, it looks like Garfield and I will be fighting over this delightful book.”—Jim Davis, creator of Garfield “The sad truth is that lasagna—a dish of such great potential—is too often sloughed together haphazardly, a multithousand-calorie doorstop for the potluck table. Anna Hezel and the team from TASTE have, thankfully, reconsidered Garfield’s favorite food and laid out, in friendly and encouraging words and pictures, simple and essential ways to elevate your lasagna game. Plus they’ve mapped out a great range of baked pastas and the lasagna-adjacent dishes of the world, so you can set sail from red sauce seas to faraway horizons, discovering variations of baked noodle bliss you may have never known were within your reach.”—Peter Meehan, food editor of the Los Angeles Times and cofounder of Lucky Peach “An exuberant love letter to the bubbling, bronzed, bricklike comfort of lasagna. I foresee 200 percent more lasagna in my kitchen this fall, just as Anna Hezel and the editors of TASTE wanted for me.”—Deb Perelman, Smitten Kitchen Anna Hezel is the senior editor of TASTE and lives in Brooklyn, New York.  TASTE is an online food magazine for people who love to cook at home and enjoy reading about approachable recipes, popular and emerging ingredients, and stories reported from the front lines of today’s quickly moving food culture.

“What could possibly be better than a great lasagna recipe? A whole slew of them, plus some wonderful baked pastas too.”—Ruth Reichl

In addition to a lasagna recipe for every occasion, the book features many creative ideas for what to eat with it, including the perfect iceberg lettuce salad you’ve ordered a million times in Italian restaurants, pillowy garlic knots, and a tiramisu for the twenty-first century. A baked pasta chapter delivers non-lasagna showstoppers, like skillet-baked spaghetti and timpano.

With 50 recipes, mouth-watering photography, and plenty of tips, Lasagna is a detailed and delicious celebration of a baked pasta icon.

The Dom Pdf

ISBN: B07XTN1PP1
Title: The Dom Pdf Steamy Boss Romance
I make plans and follow through. I don’t take risks, not like this. But he distracts me in ways I never thought possible.
I know the danger, but I dare to hope that he’ll change…for me.

Manhattan Records’ employee Ashlee Webb knows it’s a bad idea to sleep with the company’s founder, Nate Lexington, but she’s helpless to stop. However, when Nate’s past comes to light, will it be the wake-up call she needs to break away, or can their turbulent fling survive?

Don’t miss "THE DOM", a very steamy Boss Romance from USA Today bestselling author, M. S. Parker.

The Dom This is the second book of the Manhattan Records Series, about Nate & Ashley.  Nate is trying to be a better person and wants a relationship with Ashley.  Ashley is trying to accept that this will work.  When they disagree on things Nate says cruel things.  He's been that way all his life.  His is also teaching her about being a sub, being he is a dominant.  Nate is a very intense person.  Ashley still believes he can be a good man.  There a steamy scenes and intense scenes.  There are people after his money.  Ashley finds someone she has been looking for, for awhile now.  That's what leads her to Manhattan Records.  There is so much that goes in this story.  It draws you in, for sure.  There is a cliffhanger at the end.  It is so well written, that I can't wait for the next book.Down beast! When are you going to learn Nate? When are you going to hold your tongue Nate? DOWN beast! You need to behave! This book is entertaining because now they have a relationship but they (or better yet Nate) don't know how to handle it. His impulsive defensiveness will be the death of his relationship with Ashlee if he doesn't get a handle on it. Outside the bedroom we find a woman that makes her Dom loose control. And I find it different, that this character can recognize in his mind that how he is reacting is wrong but can't stop himself and brake old habits. It's like watching a train wreck. When it comes to Nate and Ashlee many things can and will go wrong. At least they are sure of one thing, they want to work for it. They want a relationship. They don't see potential with anyone else and they don't bring it out of anyone else. Only each other. So the progress is slow but still happening. She is the voice of reason. And even when you think he is a lost cause, he will surprise you. He just has unpolished potential.Steamy, Emotional, Twisted Read We pick up where The Boss left off and man are we taken on a ride or sexuality, self discovery, secrets and little pieces of truth from Nate, but will his little snippets be enough for Ashlee to venture forward in their relationship? Nate has discovered that she means more to him than anyone else he’s been in any kind of relationship with, and his fear of her seeing the real him and leaving him is tearing him apart. He’s going to screw it up somehow and when he does he will pay the consequences for his actions and lose the one person who sees him for who he is and loves him anyways. So much has come to light in their story in this book that we realize they both are dealing with some kind of pain and the best way to work through it is to talk and that’s not something Nate is willing to do right now, if ever. Ashlee can only be so patient before she has to make a choice, stay or go and when she sees a side of Nate that she doesn’t like, she has her answer. Great read, loved it and moving onto the last book in the Trilogy The Master. I can’t wait to find out what happens with these two. I received this book through BookSprout.

Title: The Daughter in Law Pdf

No one is good enough for her son....

As a single mother, Annie has an especially close relationship with her son, Ben. They have always been together. Just the two of them. So, when Ben brings home his mysterious beautiful new wife, Daisy, immediately Annie doesn't trust her. Who is this woman who has taken her son away from her? And what is she hiding? She'll protect him with her life....

When Ben disappears, suddenly Annie and Daisy are all the other one has. Alone in Annie's big, remote house, just the two of them, the tension is rising. And like any protective mother, Annie will stop at nothing to expose her new daughter in law, and the secrets she is hiding....

A gripping psychological thriller, perfect for fans of Sally Hepworth's The Mother In Law, Lisa Jewell and K. L. Slater.

The Daughter in Law A nice albeit slightly predictable psychological thriller.Daisy and Ben meet and soon they fall in love, secretly got married, and in no time Daisy is pregnant.Ben introduces his new wife to his overly protective mother Annie who believes that no woman is good enough for her precious son, thus, showing instant dislike to Daisy.Later Ben mysteriously disappears and Daisy has no one else but Annie.Daisy also has her share of dark secrets, and Annie is determined to expose her.The story alternates between Annie and Daisy viewpoints. The plot is ok, but I'd have preferred a quicker pace and a couple of original surprises.3.5 stars rounded to 4.Thanks Netgalley, Boldwood Books, and author Nina Manning for an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.A great debut This is a great debut. Nina has created a thrilling read that had me glued to the pages and I could not get unstuck from it until I finished it. It is a story full of twists and turns that had my head spinning. If you love a book that is full of mystery and suspense, then this is the book for you!The plot of the story starts like any fairytale. Ben meets Daisy, they fall in love, get married, then Daisy is introduced to Annie, her new mother in law. That sounds ok doesn’t it? In this case no, no it’s not!! Things start off ok, but when Ben disappears leaving a pregnant Daisy behind with Annie, things then take a sinister turn. The characters in this book, though not many, are very well developed. Right from the get go Annie, makes her feelings clear that she is not a fan of Daisy and while Daisy does have something to hide, as the story progresses, so does Annie and you are kept guessing as to who is hiding the bigger secret and how far one will go to protect it.Holy crap the character of Annie is one crazy woman, that terrified the hell out of me! She is so cold and calculating. Nina has done a great job of creating a character who chills you to the bone. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time throughout the story, just waiting to see what she was going to do next. The cover of the book is spot on. It sets of the sinister tone of the book perfectly. I love it.The effective writing style served to make me feel uneasy throughout the whole book and it wasn’t till the story concluded that I could breathe easy again. As a first time author, Nina excels in building suspense and tension and is definitely an author to watch out for. I look forward to seeing what she comes up with next.Thank-you to NetGalley, Boldwood Books and Nina Manning for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Daughter In Law which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Audience of One Pdf

ISBN: 1631494422
Title: Audience of One Pdf Donald Trump, Television, and the Fracturing of America
Author: James Poniewozik
Published Date: 2019-09-10
Page: 304

“Illuminating... Poniewozik is a funny, acerbic and observant writer… [He] uses his ample comedic gifts in the service of describing a slow-boil tragedy. If humor is the rocket of his ICBM, the last three years of our lives are the destructive payload…Poniewozik brings a new microscope with which to analyze the drug-resistant bacterium that is our president. Perhaps the greatest accomplishment of Audience of One is that it makes Trump's presidency seem almost inevitable.” - Gary Shteyngart, New York Times Book Review“The smartest, most original, most unexpectedly definitive account of the rise of Trump and Trumpism we’ve had so far. It’s also the best book yet written about the bride-of-Frankenstein mating of American politics and American pop culture, a wedding practically nobody saw coming until Trump provided the shotgun… [An] uncommonly rich and stimulating book.” - Tom Carson, Bookforum“In his stellar debut, Poniewozik demonstrates how Trump, over a period of four decades, “achieved symbiosis” with the TV medium.... His telling analyses of Trump’s appearances on The Apprentice, Fox & Friends, and The Howard Stern Show will come as revelations to readers unfamiliar with those programs.... The author chronicles Trump’s actions against a deeply insightful history of vast changes in the media and popular culture during the period.... This intelligent eye-opener belongs on the small shelf of valuable books that help explain how Trump created his base.” - Kirkus Reviews [starred review]“Caustic, scintillating cultural history…. New York Times television critic Poniewozik sets Donald Trump’s political rise against American television’s evolution…. Trump’s own media persona―'the blunt, impolite apex predator’ on The Apprentice, the trash-talking bully in pro-wrestling cameos, the birther conspiracy theorist on Fox News guest spots―shaped his political style and then subsumed him entirely: Trump became ‘a cable news channel in human form: loud, short of attention span, and addicted to conflict,’ Poniewozik writes. ‘TV became president.’ Poniewozik’s trenchant, brilliantly witty critique of the cultural archetypes percolating into American politics is one of the best analyses yet of the Trump era.” - Publishers Weekly [starred review]“We’re saturated in Trump coverage and analysis these days, but Poniewozik has been offering consistently unique, informative, and whip-smart commentary in his post as New York Times TV critic. Here he expands on his newspaper work by dissecting the president through the lens of his favorite medium.” - Entertainment Weekly“This is both a fascinating look at the ways television has changed and shaped the U.S., and a compelling lens through which to look at how we got to November 8, 2016.” - Booklist“The Mueller Report of television criticism! James Poniewozik’s Audience of One is both damning and illuminating, a witty, penetrating exposĂ© of Trump’s most intimate relationship, the one with the medium that made him.” - Emily Nussbaum, television critic for The New Yorker“Now that the Donald Trump freak show has replaced all regularly scheduled programming, staggering us daily, as one of its longtime chroniclers I’m grateful for this brilliant, lucid, and essential book to help make sense of this American nightmare.” - Kurt Andersen, author of Fantasyland: How America Went Haywire“In the vast literature of Trump-theory, Audience of One immediately takes a place in the first rank; it has to be read by anyone interested in understanding how such a buffoon became our nation’s chief magistrate. We have always known of course that Donald Trump’s success is attributable in some way to television; what we have not grasped―what we have refused to grasp―is how his career reflects the tastes and predilections of our beloved entertainment industry right down to the smallest details of its technological development. For anyone who still counts on enlightened celebrities to deliver us: Read this book and repent.” - Thomas Frank, author of Rendezvous with Oblivion“In this brilliant new book, James Poniewozik shows how the media landscape increasingly fragmented over the past few decades, with the rise of cable, the Internet, and social media, and how our political world fractured as a result. Smartly argued and beautifully written, Audience of One deserves an audience of millions.” - Kevin M. Kruse, coauthor of Fault Lines: A History of the United States Since 1974 James Poniewozik has been the chief television critic of the New York Times since 2015. He was previously the television and media critic for Time magazine and media columnist for Salon. He lives in Brooklyn.

One of the Top 10 Politics and Current Events Books of Fall 2019 (Publishers Weekly)

An incisive cultural history that captures a fractious nation through the prism of television and the rattled mind of a celebrity president.

Television has entertained America, television has ensorcelled America, and with the election of Donald J. Trump, television has conquered America. In Audience of One, New York Times chief television critic James Poniewozik traces the history of TV and mass media from the Reagan era to today, explaining how a volcanic, camera-hogging antihero merged with America’s most powerful medium to become our forty-fifth president.

In the tradition of Neil Postman’s masterpiece Amusing Ourselves to Death, Audience of One shows how American media have shaped American society and politics, by interweaving two crucial stories. The first story follows the evolution of television from the three-network era of the 20th century, which joined millions of Americans in a shared monoculture, into today’s zillion-channel, Internet-atomized universe, which sliced and diced them into fractious, alienated subcultures. The second story is a cultural critique of Donald Trump, the chameleonic celebrity who courted fame, achieved a mind-meld with the media beast, and rode it to ultimate power.

Braiding together these disparate threads, Poniewozik combines a cultural history of modern America with a revelatory portrait of the most public American who has ever lived. Reaching back to the 1940s, when Trump and commercial television were born, Poniewozik illustrates how Donald became “a character that wrote itself, a brand mascot that jumped off the cereal box and entered the world, a simulacrum that replaced the thing it represented.” Viscerally attuned to the media, Trump shape-shifted into a boastful tabloid playboy in the 1980s; a self-parodic sitcom fixture in the 1990s; a reality-TV “You’re Fired” machine in the 2000s; and finally, the biggest role of his career, a Fox News–obsessed, Twitter-mad, culture-warring demagogue in the White House.

Poniewozik deconstructs the chaotic Age of Trump as the 24-hour TV production that it is, decoding an era when politics has become pop culture, and vice versa. Trenchant and often slyly hilarious, Audience of One is a penetrating and sobering review of the raucous, raging, farcical reality show―performed for the benefit of an insomniac, cable-news-junkie “audience of one”―that we all came to live in, whether we liked it or not.

Make Donald Trump Small Again James Poniewozik, the TV critic for The NY Times, describes throughout Audience of One his penchant for television shows with powerful narratives. He emphasizes the difference between twenty-four hour news channels, which are just one burst of information after another, with a well-done drama series like the Sopranos.Unsurprisingly, his first book is itself a powerful narrative. First, how TV changed from the anodyne sitcoms of the 1980s to the diverse panoply of reality TV and HBO dramas and comedies. He highlights how dramas are often about empathizing and cooperating while reality TV is about competition and ruthlessness in the drive to win.More controversially, he describes how Donald Trump has coopted the values of reality TV into winning the presidency. He paints an image of Trump as an amoral, narcissistic, pathological liar who is chosen as the champion fighter for one diminishing sector of America (the white lower and upper classes). He has brought to life the much admired strong men of Breaking Bad, the Sopranos and like entertainment.Trump, according to Poniewozik, sees the presidency as essentially like an episode of Survivor. Get the goods for America against all other nations and America’s goods for his electorate.I found only two problems with this narrative. One is it is only a narrative. If it resonates with your experience of American culture then you’ll agree with it. But there’s really no way to prove or disprove any of its points.Second, it paints such an overwhelmingly negative portrait of Trump and his supporters that it will probably be read only by like minded liberals.Personally, I came away with the sense that Poniewozik has an important story to tell. But I’m sure that critics will try to find holes in his narrative structure. Moreover, while I thought that this is a book that every politically-conscious person should read I have to hope I’m wrong that the condescending tone toward MAGAs will restrict its ambit to coastal liberal elites. If you are broadminded enough to consider a rather partisan narrative this book is highly recommended.

The Solar War (The Long Winter Trilogy Book 2) Free Pdf

ISBN: B07P92TDXQ
Title: The Solar War (The Long Winter Trilogy Book 2) Pdf
Read the second book in The Long Winter trilogy--now a Wall Street Journal bestseller!

* * *

We thought the war was over.
We were wrong.

They decimated Earth during the Long Winter.
Now the grid has returned, and they won't stop until the human race is extinct.
On a ruined world, humanity's last survivors fight against impossible odds.
In their darkest hour, they discover a new hope for survival. But it comes at an unthinkable price, with consequences that will change everything.

* * *

After the Long Winter, Emma Matthews and James Sinclair hoped life would get back to normal. They've settled down in Camp Seven and welcomed their first child, a daughter. And they have waited and watched the sky for any signs of the grid's return.

When NASA discovers that several asteroids have broken from the Kuiper Belt and are headed for Earth, James instantly realizes the truth: the grid is back. And this battle will be one to the very end.

As he and his team prepare for humanity's last stand in space and on the ground, Emma makes a discovery closer to home, one that will change life for her and James once again.

With war raging around them, Emma and James fight to keep their family alive. In the cold darkness, humanity splinters. New alliances emerge. At every turn, Emma and James face new dangers--and question whom to trust.

Just when it seems that all hope is lost, James uncovers what may be the key to humanity's survival. But it comes with enormous risks. To implement his plan, he and Emma will have to survive the grid and another, even more deadly enemy. One thing is certain: their gambit will change the future of the human race forever.

Praise for A.G. Riddle

"...reads like a superior collaboration between Dan Brown and Michael Crichton."
-- The Guardian on Pandemic

"I finished the book fast because I just couldn't wait..."
-- WIRED GeekDad on Departure

"Riddle... keep(s) the focus on his characters... rather than the technological marvels"
-- Publisher's Weekly on Departure

"Well-constructed and tightly-wound as a fine Swiss watch--DEPARTURE has non-stop action, an engaging plot and, of course, wheels within wheels."
-- Diana Gabaldon, bestselling author of Outlander

Almost Great! This one has a slow and rather tedious start, but right around the midway point, it turns into a brilliant thrill ride of ever increasing dilemmas the protagonists must outsmart and out-maneuver. The back and forth first-person narration infuriates at times, with Emma's portions seemingly only in place to confound and upset the otherwise crescendo pacing of James's killer story. Perhaps this does could have easily been a single book that would have absolutely stunned readers, but I'm sure dragging it out served its author's purpose. Just grates the patience being aware of that while reading chapter after chapter of Emma's take on a make believe psychology book while James is out there off page clawing his way to save humanity and locking jaws with an insidiously humored A.I. incarnate. Could have been a much tighter read, but well worth the time.Emma whines while the world freezes. Again. I enjoyed the first book and would give it a 4. Book 2 is so repetitive I have to give it a 1. The couple that won’t lie to each other ever again immediately resume lying; James keeps the killer asteroids a secret for two years. Emma debates in every one of her chapters whether or not to tell James she’s pregnant. Again. Also I don’t think the author has a grasp of science at all. James builds Lt. Data and no one can figure out it’s a robot. Drones fly around in space with seemingly endless fuel. I won’t bother with book 3.Another great read! If you are reading this review, odds are you have read the previous storys leading up to this one. I am off to find the final novella "The Lost Colony". As usual, James is in a real jam and Emma is back at camp on this new strange planet. She has no idea what is coming at them. James found a clue from his best friend Harry. He was found in a large cave and a planet hurricane....a Real whopper is upon them along with another predator that makes T Rex look like a family pet. Great story. Thank you Gerry!!!!
